I have my bachelor degree in piano performance from Byan College in Dayton, TN studied with Dr. Sigirid Luther.

I have my masters degree in piano literature from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN and studied with Dr. David Northington.

I have taught private lessons for over 30 years. I continue to be a member of several music organizations that help to continue to inspire me in my profession and give opportunities to my students.

I am a current member of:

Music Teacher's National Association, which includes the Penn Music Teacher's Association and the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of which I am currently on the board.

Pittsburgh Piano Teacher's Association

National Federation of Music Teachers

American College of Musicians, which is commonly called the Piano Guild

I lived in Iowa and Illinois during my younger years.  I started piano lessons when I was five years old and lived near Chicago at the time. My family was able to frequent the Chicago Symphony so my love for classical music began early.  I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a pianist and a piano teacher when I grew up, so I am fulfilling my dream. The picture below is something I made in school when I was in second grade.

I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of personalities and ages and abilities over the years.  I have benefited from each relationship and I feel that many of them also have fond memories of our times together.

I have had students excel and enter college well prepared for a major in music and students that have entered and placed in serious competitions.

I continue to perform primarily in the area of accompanying instrumentalists.  This is a particular favorite medium of mine.

I am married and have two children who are grown and married now.  Both of my children pursued music in college. My son is a professional horn player now but enjoyed playing the piano and the drums during his early years also. My daughter who also took piano from me, excelled vocally but also became quite proficient at the violin, viola, guitar, trombone, baritone and part of her major was composition. She teaches piano in Ohio but also coaches figure skating.

I play flute and keyboard and arrange music for our church for especially Christmas and  Easter.

My hobbies are biking the Montour trail and the Panhandle trail as frequently as possible.  And I love playing in my flower beds from early spring through late fall.

That's me in a nutshell.
